Leonard Nimoy (born Leonard Simon Nimoy on March 26, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts) was an American actor, director and singer. Nimoy is famous for playing Spock in the Star Trek franchise, and has received three Emmy nominations for his role. Furthermore, the character has been named one of television’s 50 Greatest Characters by TV Guide. From 2009-2012, Nimoy starred on the science fiction TV show Fringe as Dr. William Bell. In Feb. 2015, Nimoy passed away from an end-stage lung disease called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Personal Life:
Nimoy first married actress Sandra Zober in 1954. Two years after their divorce, he remarried actress Susan Bay, who is the cousin of director Michael Bay. He was good friends with co-star William Shatner, and Nimoy was Shatner’s best man at one of his weddings. Nimoy read and spoke Yiddish, and was active in the Jewish Community.
