Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (born in New York City, New York on September 22, 1971), is an American actor and writer who has appeared in films, theatre, and television series. He studied classical music at Baltimore School for the Arts alongside Jada Pinkett Smith and Tupac Shakur, but decided to pursue acting instead. Lawrence has appeared on numerous television crime dramas such as Law & Order, Homicide: Life on the Street, New York Undercover and CSI: NY. He was the break out star in the HBO drama series The Wire, where he played D-Angelo Barksdale. Lawrence joined the cast of the The Walking Dead in the fourth season as Bob Stookey, appearing in thirteen episodes until his character’s death in the fifth season.Â
