Lauren Holiday (born Lauren Nicole Cheney on September 30, 1987 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is American professional soccer player. The midfielder and forward currently plays for FC Kansas City in the National Women’s Soccer League and the United States women’s national soccer team. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and she previously played for the Boston Breakers in the WPS and collegiate soccer for the UCLA Bruins. Lauren was a valued member of the US Women’s team in the 2015 Women’s World Cup. She scored in the final match against Japan, helping the team win 5-2 and take home the first World Cup championship in 16 years.

Personal Life:
After watching her brother play soccer at a young age, Lauren began playing and she actually played on boys’ teams until age 12. She had open heart surgery at the age of three to correct a heart defect. Lauren met her husband, professional basketball player Jrue Holiday, in 2008 while they were both attending UCLA. They got married in 2013.
