Gloria Govan (born January 1, 1970 in Oakland, California) is an American television personality, actress and author. Gloria was only 12 when she met Matt Barnes, the man she would eventually marry. The two were in the 8th grade together, and though they knew each other when they were young, Gloria and Matt didn’t start dating until 2006. By that time, he was a NBA star, playing for the Golden State Warriors in Gloria’s hometown of Oakland. Gloria was a star of the first season of Basketball Wives, the VH1 reality television series. She also appeared on the first two seasons of the spin-off, Basketball Wives: LA. In Oct. 2015, her estranged husband attacked New York Knicks head coach (and Matt’s former teammate) Derek Fisher when Matt discovered Gloria and Derek were seeing each other.

Gloria and Matt welcomed twin boys Carter Kelly and Isaiah Michael on November 6, 2008. Gloria and Matt were married in 2012, but separated in mid-Oct. 2014. Gloria has two siblings: sister Laura Govan and brother Lonnie Govan. Laura is romantically involved with NBA star Gilbert Arenas and she stars in Basketball Wives: LA. Gloria’s father was African American and her mother was born in Tijuana, Mexico. Gloria published a cookbook, A Mixed Girl’s Favorite Recipes, in 2014. She is also involved in charity work, even being appointed the executive director of the Athletes Vs Cancer foundation.
