Fiona Apple (born Fiona Apple McAfee Maggart in Manhattan, New York on September 13, 1977) is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. She is best known for her debut album, Tidal, which earned her a Grammy nomination and award for Best Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in 1996. The most popular song off the album, “Criminal,” reached the top 40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Fiona went on to produce other albums such as When the Pawn…, Extraordinary Machine, and The Idler Wheel.
