Elliot Rodger was a British-born American student at Santa Barbara City College. At 22 years old, he was the perpetrator behind the 2014 Isla Vista shootings that took six lives and injured seven others; his motive being that he was still a virgin whom girls didn’t like, he revealed in a video on his YouTube account. One week prior to the shooting, his parents expressed concern over the content on his YouTube channel. One day before the shooting, Elliot posted a video titled “Elliot Rodger’s Retribution”, in which he said “Tomorrow is the day of retribution, the day in which I will have my revenge. … You girls have never been attracted to me. I don’t know why you girls aren’t attracted to me, but I will punish you all for it.” His 140-page manifesto, My Twisted World, also revealed his future plans. “On the day before the Day of Retribution, I will start the First Phase of my vengeance: Silently killing as many people as I can around Isla Vista by luring them into my apartment through some form of trickery.” He was found dead of a bullet wound to the head; police have stated that the wound was self-inflicted.

Elliot was the son of filmmaker Peter Rodger, most notably and recently the assistant director on the Hunger Games. His mother was Li Chin, and his stepmother actress Soumaya Akaaboune.
