Today was tough on The Voice judges Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera, they had to choose who to save from their respective teams while America’s saves were announced. Christina cried right from the start and said quite a few words about how hard of a decision it was while Blake says he “hate[s] this moment” and was “dreading” the elimination. Randy Jackson feels that all singing competition shows owe American Idol for their successful formula. In fact, he felt the need to respond to Adam Levine‘s comment from this week’s episode of The Voice, when he said, “The people that we’re not turning our chairs around for could win ‘American Idol‘.”
The Voice is a popular singing competition so comparisons to American Idol are inevitable. Even Adam Levine brought it up last night (full recap here), saying, “The people we’re not turning around our chairs for, could win American Idol.” Don’t make the mistake of shrugging off The Voice as just another Idol-wannabe. Last night’s episode soared in the ratings , pulling in even bigger numbers than its super-successful premiere.
