Brandon IngramĀ (born Brandon Xavier Ingram on September 2, 1997 in Kinston, North Carolina) is an American basketball player. Brandon grew up in North Carolina, the younger brother of basketball player Donovan Ingram. When Brandon was around 11 years old, he joined his brother and his friends in a game of basketball, triggering a love that would lead him to the NBA. By the time Brandon reached the eighth grade, he was already being mentored by ex-NBA star, Jerry Stackhouse. In high school, Brandon led the Kinston team to four consecutive North Carolina State Championships. As a senior, he averaged 24.3 games and 10.4 rebounds per game. He was rated as a five-star recruit for the NCAA and in 2015, he announced he would play for Duke University. He only played a single season for the Duke Blue Devils. In his 26 games, he averaged 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He earned ACC Rookie of the Year and was an AP All-American honorable mention. Brandon decided to forgo the rest of his college career, declaring himself eligible for the 2016 NBA Draft. He was considered a Top 2 selection for the draft, along with LSU player, Ben Simmons.
