Ana Gasteyer (born Ana Kristina Gasteyer on May 4, 1967 in Washington D.C.) is an American actress and comedian. Ana grew up in the nation’s capital, graduating from Sidwell Friends School before enrolling at Northwestern University School of Communication. She became a theater major and continued her interest in performing after school. She joined the Los Angeles improvisational and sketch comedy troupe, The Groundlings. This helped launch her career, as she began to play small roles on shows like Seinfeld, Party of Five, Fraiser and NYPD Blue. However, her big break came in 1996 when she joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. She would stay with the show until 2002, after becoming known for her impressions of Martha Stewart and Celine Dion. After SNL, Ana appeared in Tina Fey’s movie, Mean Girls, before starring in a Broadway revival of The Threepenny Opera. Ana originated the role of Elphaba in the Chicago sit-down production of the musical, Wicked. In 2011, she co-starred in the ABC comedy series, Suburgatory. She released her first album in 2014, and appeared in The Mindy Project in 2015. In 2016, Ana took part in the production of Grease: Live!
