Amir Khan (born Amir Khan on December 8, 1986) is a British professional boxer. He is a former unified WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion, and he is the current holder of the WBC Silver welterweight title. Amir also won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics when he was aged just 17-years-old. He is recognized as one of Britain’s youngest champions, winning the WBA title when he was 22. In 2011, he achieved his highest-ranking of 8th best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Sport runs in his family, because his first cousin is England cricket star Sajid Mahmood. He is believed to have amassed a $30 million fortune from boxing.
Best Known For:
Amir is best known for his 2009 fight with Marco Antonio Barrera. Marco was ranked number one in the lightweight divisions at the time, while Amir was 5th in the standings. The fight was stopped in the fifth round due to Marco suffering a heavy cut to his head after a clash of heads. The fight was awarded to Amir after he was deemed to be ahead on he judge’s scorecards.

Amir is married to Pakistani-American Faryal Makhdoom. They have one child together, a daughter named Lamaisah, who was born on May 23, 2014.
