A woman has been arrested after the Los Angeles home of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky was targeted in a shooting on Sunday, March 8. Authorities say multiple gunshots were fired toward the Beverly Hills–area property while the singer was inside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Los Angeles Times.reported on Monday, March 9, that the suspect fired 10 rounds at Rihanna’s residence from a white Tesla across the street on March 8. The vehicle fled the scene on Coldwater Canyon Drive, according to the dispatch audio obtained by the Times. A rep from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that the shooting is “an active LAPD Robbery Homicide Division investigation.”
Police later identified the suspect as 35-year-old Ivana Lisette Ortiz of Florida, who was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Prosecutors have since filed multiple felony charges against her, including attempted murder and assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

Who Is the Suspect Behind the Rihanna Home Shooting?
The suspect’s name was not immediately announced, but according to Fox11 Los Angeles, her name is Ivana Lisette Ortiz. The Los Angeles Times originally reported that the person taken into custody was a 35-year-old female from Florida. Her hair was styled in braids, she was wearing a cream-colored blouse and her car was “dirty on the bottom,” per the publication. Police in a helicopter spotted her vehicle and followed it to a Sherman Oaks, California, shopping center parking lot. They arrested her there.
“When they pulled the suspect over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings,” Armen Arias, an LAPD spokesperson, told the Times.
Prosecutors have since charged Ortiz with attempted murder and multiple additional felony counts, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm and shooting at an inhabited dwelling. If convicted, she could face life in prison.
Was Rihanna Injured in the Beverly Hills House Shooting?
No, neither Rihanna nor A$AP Rocky was injured, though the “Diamonds” hitmaker was home when the shooting occurred, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Why Did the Suspect Shoot Rihanna’s Home?
Authorities have not yet confirmed a definitive motive for why the suspect allegedly opened fire at the home of Rihanna. Investigators say the shooting is still under investigation as they review evidence and the suspect’s background. However, prosecutors say the attack appears to have been “willful, deliberate and premeditated,” according to the criminal complaint filed in the case.
“My understanding is the person drove here from Florida. How long they’ve been in the area … I don’t have that information,” said LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell. “They’re working on that. That would be part of the whole motive, why the person came out here. We haven’t established a motive, we do know, and are aware of, social media posts that had been made that they’re looking into further.”
Investigators are also examining social media posts believed to belong to the suspect that referenced Rihanna, which could help determine why she traveled from Florida to Los Angeles before the shooting.
