It’s the one game college football fans have been waiting for: The Alabama Crimson Tide will face the Clemson Tigers for the College Football Championship and it’s going to be epic. Will the Crimson Tide roll on to another championship or will the Tigers claw their way to the top?
There’s only one game left in the college football season. The winner gets all the glory and the loser goes home brokenhearted. Clemson and Alabama will travel to University of Phoenix Stadium in scenic Glendale, Arizona on Jan. 11. The game kicks off at 8:30 p.m. EST, so be prepared for an incredible showdown on the gridiron.
The Clemson Tigers have gone completely undefeated for the regular 2015-16 season. The ACC champs ran circles around the Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl, winning 37-17. Despite this and a 14-0 record, the Tigers are actually considered the underdogs going into the match-up. The SEC champs are a seven-point favorite over Clemson, according to ESPN, and the experts at Fox Sports are picking Alabama to win.
That’s because the 13-1 Crimson Tide has Derrick Henry, the 2015 Heisman Trophy winning running back. The Crimson Tide’s quarterback, Jake Coker, has been solid, according to the International Business Times, but Alabama has been rolling on Derrick’s performance, as he’s rushed for over 2,000 yards for 25 touchdowns.
However, Clemson’s quarterback, Deshaun Watson, finished third in the 2015 Heisman voting. He’s proven why he’s a champion-caliber player, throwing for over 3,000 yards while rushing for another 1,000 this season. But the Alabama defense is really tough, as they haven’t allowed more than 16 points in the last seven games. Deshaun will have to step up and throw some bombs if the Tigers are going to get by the Crimson defense.
However, some of the Tigers think they can run against the Crimson Tide, as the Tigers’ guard, Eric Mac Lain tells ESPN, “I think we have to run the ball. I think we have to get that established early. That’s just who we are. WE can’t change that now.” Meanwhile, Crimson Tide’s defensive Lineman A’Shawn Robinson shrugged this off, saying “I haven’t seen teams have too much success [running the ball.]”
Will Clemson upset the favorites? Or will it be “Roll Tide” for the College Football Championship? Who do you think is going to win this game, HollywoodLifers?
