Money, marriage & MacLaine! Get the scoop on the Crawleys’ major drama to come.
We’ve seen brief clips and we’ve heard plenty of rumors, but now that the first official trailer for the third season of Downton Abbey has hit the web, we finally have a concrete look at what’s in store — and it’s looking pretty grim. The Crawleys have some serious drama coming their way, both familial and financial; Oh, and did I mention Shirley MacLaine?
‘Downton Abbey’ returns with new episodes in Jan. 2013 — and there’s a whole new war brewing!
The Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) may have finally met her match! During the American Film Institute’s tribute to Shirley MacLaine on June 24, TV Land viewers were treated to a world-premiere clip of Shirley on Downton Abbey‘s third season — she’s playing Cora’s (Elizabeth McGovern) mother from across the pond — and it looks like she’s already sparring with the show’s resident snipster.
She’s one of the last living legends from Old Hollywood and an inspiration to young actors everywhere!
Shirley MacLaine is a true icon of the silver screen. Her first onscreen role was in 1955 in Alfred Hitchcock‘s The Trouble With Harry, and she’s had an illustrious career ever since. The pinnacle of her success came when she won an Oscar in the 1983 tearjerker Terms of Endearment. She’s been most recently seen in 2010’s Valentine’s Day and she’s starring in the upcoming Bernie with Matthew McConaughey and Jack Black.
We can’t wait to see all our favorite stars on screen!
