Amy Winehouse will not be forgotten. The singer’s father Mitch Winehouse attended the BRIT Awards on her behalf since she’s was given a posthumous nomination for Best British female.

Amy Died On July 23, 2011

Amy was known to live in the fast lane. The coroners report says that she died of: “fatal levels [of alcohol] was her sudden and unexpected death.”

“Amy seemed determined to have a big one on Friday night,” a friend said at the time. “She was out in Camden [a neighborhood in London] on Friday evening, but seemed determined to carry on the party back at her flat. None of us know who was with her into the early hours of Saturday. But getting out of it was clearly her main priority of the night.”

Amy’s rep Chris Goodman spoke to The Sun and said, “”Amy was on her own at home apart from a security guard who we had appointed to help look after her over the past couple of years. She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep and when he went to wake her he found she wasn’t breathing. He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed.”

Amy Winehouse‘s death left fans reeling all over the world, but never-before-heard music featuring the troubled chanteuse is set to be released in just a few months!

Amy, who died in July at age 27, will be paid tribute with a new album called Amy Winehouse Lioness: Hidden Treasures, Britain’s The Sun reports. The record, set to be released in December, features songs written about her tumultuous relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil and one track reportedly recorded while she was high on heroin.

Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse says the new album is incredibly powerful.

“I spent so much time chasing after Amy — telling her off — that I never realized what a true genius she was,” he said. “It wasn’t until I sat down with the rest of the family and listened to this album that I fully appreciated the breadth of her talent. From jazz standards to hip-hop songs, it took my breath away.”

Three months after the tragic death of Amy Winehouse, it has been revealed the singer died of accidental alcohol poisoning.

The Grammy Award winner was found dead July 23 at 4 p.m. in her London apartment.

A private funeral was held July 26 in London, and was attended by Amy’s family, as well as celebrity friends like Kelly Osbourne and Mark Ronson.

Amy Winehouse‘s death was so sad, but at least we can always remember her through her beautiful music. Her bittersweet final song — a duet with legend Tony Bennett on the classic “Body and Soul” — has been released, and we’re totally mesmerized by the video!

Amy, whose 28th birthday would have been today, was a tremendous talent, and it’s great to see her so focused on singing during this performance — after all, the end of her life had become increasingly marked by negative media coverage.

Mitch Winehouse, along with his family,will be the first guests to appear on Anderson Cooper’s new syndicated talk-show that debuts this Monday. During Friday’s taping of the show, Mitch told Anderson, “there was nobody there to rescue her.”

According to the A.P., Mitch said that traces of the the prescription drug Librium, which is used to fight anxiety and withdrawal symptoms of alcoholism, were found in her body. Her family says toxicology reports indicated there was alcohol in her bloodstream but it was unclear whether this had contributed to her death.

“Everything Amy did, she did to excess,” Mitch told Anderson. “She drank to excess and did detox to excess.”

He said he regretted that his daughter was trying to kick her alcoholism without a doctor’s help. He said, “the periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter. It was heading in the right direction.”

The family, who has not spoken about Amy’s death until now, also revealed she had suffered seizures during this period and would lose consciousness. Her father admitted he was speculating this happened on the morning she died and said he should find out more conclusively how she died when a full inquest into her death begins next month.

Years earlier, when Amy Winehouse was on harder drugs (including heroin and cocaine), her father said, he would not have been surprised if she had died.

He occasionally dabbed tears from his eyes as Cooper’s show ran video clips of her. He said he was comforted by the outpouring of support from her fans. Her mother, Janis Winehouse, said she’s had people approach her to thank her for having the singer.

Mitch said he blamed the singer’s ex-husband, a music industry hanger-on, for introducing her to hard drugs but did not blame him for her death. He said she had not taken drugs since December 2008.

Amy Winehouse’s boyfriend at the time of her death, Reg Traviss, said they had spent a quiet evening looking at pictures and watching DVDs two days before she died. They were looking forward to attending a friend’s wedding in a few days and were planning a trip to St. Lucia around her Sept. 14 birthday.

He said he struggled to find the right moments to talk to his girlfriend about her drinking without seeming as though he was nagging.

Winehouse’s family has set up a foundation to raise money to help people beat alcohol and drug addiction. Her father met with British political leaders to seek backing for setting up a drug rehab center in her name.

The foundation officially starts operation within days.

Anderson’s show, simply called Anderson, has donated $50,000 to the foundation.

The emotional interview airs Monday, Sept. 12.

After months of speculation, the “toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in [Amy Winehouse's] system at the time of her death,” according to a statement from Amy’s spokesperson.

It continued: “Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”
