Emily Kinney (born Emily Rebecca Kinney in Wayne, Nebraska on August 15, 1985) has been very open about the fact that she and her family moved around quite a lot as she was growing up. In 2006 she graduated Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and then she moved to New York City to pursue a career on Broadway. At 23 she got her big break as Anna in the musical Spring Awakening, and the following year she joined the stage production of August: Osage County. Emily’s first acting role on television was on Showtime’s The Big C, and in 2011 she was cast in her biggest role yet on The Walking Dead. Emily is also a singer/songwriter who frequently tours the country to perform live for her fans.
