Adam Rose (born Raymond John “Ray” Leppan on July 20, 1979 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South African professional wrestler. Adam made his pro-wrestling debut at age 16 in World Wrestling Professionals in South Africa, making up the Pure Juice tag team with fellow future WWE superstar, Justin Gabriel. He won the WWP World Heavyweight Championship in 2007, losing it the following year. In 2010, Adam’s United States work visa cleared and he was signed to the WWE development territory, Florida Championship Wrestling. He changed his name from Ray Leppan to Leo Kruger in tribute to a relative and former South African president Paul Kruger. During his two years in FCW, Adam (as Leo) won the FCW championship twice. He lost the title to future WWE champion, Seth Rollins in 2012. When FCW was rebranded as NXT, Leo also underwent a transformation, rebranding himself as Adam Rose, a party loving character loosely based on comedian Russell Brand. Adam made his WWE debut in April 2014. Despite an initial burst of popularity, Adam floundered on the roster. In 2016, he teamed up with Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel and Heath Slater to create the Social Outcasts stable. In April 2016, Adam was suspended for 60 days following his second violation of the WWE’s Wellnesss Program. Adam publicly disputed the suspension, providing a Doctor’s note for the Adderall XR prescription to treat his ADHD. The next month, in May 2016, Adam was arrested in Lutz, Florida for battery domestic assault.
