So don’t miss it — watch the live stream of the game below.
It’s not a championship, but it’s at least better than going out on two straight losses. After a crushing defeat to Argentina in the World Cup semifinals, Netherlands came back to play for pride, defeating Brazil 3-0 in the consolation match on July 12.
It’s never easy to get pumped up for a third place match — you’ve just been knocked out of a tournament after coming so close to the ultimate goal — but on July 12, both Brazil and the Netherlands proved that their pride was intact in a surprisingly exciting consolation match. In the end though, it was Netherlands’s day, and they went out of the World Cup with a 3-0 win.
With both Brazil and the Netherlands suffering disappointing losses in the World Cup semifinals (OK, one loss was more disappointing than the other), there is now just one thing on the line on July 12 — pride. Watch the live stream below to see who can have bounce-back game in the final weekend of the World Cup.
A third place game is never fun (there’s a reason we don’t do them in the ultra-competitive United States). It means you lost, and instead of being able to just go home and get over the heartbreak, you’re forced to strap on the boots once more and play in a game that does nothing but remind you of your recent failure. That’s what host nation Brazil and the Netherlands have on their slate as they face off in the World Cup consolation game on July 12.
Cue up Diddy’s “Coming Home!” In a shocking turn of events, LeBron announced in a blog post on July 11 that he was signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team that he spurned in 2010 with “The Decision.” Read his emotional post below!
After LeBron James opted out of his contract with the Miami Heat on June 24, he opened the door for a possible return with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team whose heart he broke by taking his talents to South Beach in 2010. And though most reports speculated that the greatest in the NBA would be re-signing with the Heat, on July 11 LeBron posted a personal letter on SI.com announcing that he was headed back to Cleveland.

A high-end prostitute has been accused of giving Google executive Forrest Timothy Hayes, 51, a lethal dose of heroin while on his yacht in Santa Cruz, Calif., and on July 9 it was revealed that not only did she sip wine while Hayes died, but that she’s been posting messages about her love for killing sprees on Facebook.
Alix Catherine Tichelman, a 26-year-old woman police describe as a high-end prostitute, was charged with manslaughter in the Nov. 2013 death of Google executive Forrest Timothy Hayes, 51, on July 9 — but it’s the details of the case that are truly disturbing.
The final is set! After Germany stomped Brazil yesterday, Argentina put forth a valiant effort on July 9 to defeat the Netherlands 4-2 on penalty kicks and advance to the World Cup final.
After Germany blew out Brazil 7-1 in the first semifinal on July 8, it was almost a guarantee that the other match between Netherlands and Argentina would be closer, and sure enough, it was a nail-biter. It came down to the wire, with Argentina thrillingly pulling past the Netherlands to win the match on penalty kicks, 4-2.
Well that didn’t take long! Just three days after Chris separated from Karrueche — possibly because of a raunchy request to have a threesome — the singer was spotted in L.A. packing on the PDA with a sexy mystery girl. Has he already moved on?
Chris Brown may have separated from his supportive, longtime girlfriend Karrueche Tran on July 5, but he doesn’t appear to be moping about it. Instead he seems to be taking the “there’s plenty of other fish in the sea” approach, because just three days after their big fight he was spotted getting VERY close to a new mystery girl.
The Germans are waiting. There’s one spot left in the World Cup final and on July 9, Argentina and the Netherlands will face off to determine who gets it. Will it be an all-European final, or will Lionel Messi continue on his journey to the promise land? Watch the live stream below to find out!
We probably won’t see a game more shocking than when Germany humiliated host nation Brazil 7-1 yesterday, July 8, but we might actually get a close game in today’s semifinal game between Argentina and Netherlands. It’s the god Lionel Messi against the stacked lineup of the Oranje, and you can catch all the action on the live stream below.
Two top teams clashed on July 8 as a Neymar-less Brazil went up against the stacked Germans. With a trip to the World Cup final on the line, Germany stepped up big-time, scoring a slew of goals in the first half on their way to a 7-1 rout of the host nation.
Brazil and Germany seemed destined to meet at some point during the 2014 World Cup, and fate was confirmed on July 8 as the two top-ranked squads faced off in a heated semifinal match. The heavy-hitters trade blows back and forth early, but Germany proved their worth after that, scoring goal after goal after goal and taking a demanding lead in the first half. Germany never let up, eventually advancing to the World Cup final with a stunning 7-1 victory.
And then there were four. The two top-ranked teams in the world will face off on July 8 with a date in the World Cup final on the line, but one of the squads — the host nation — will be extremely shorthanded. Watch the live stream below to see who comes out on top.
Though the group stage of the 2014 World Cup seemed wilder and more upset-heavy than ever, the universe has more or less realigned in the knockout stage, and now Brazil and Germany, the two top-ranked teams in the world, have made it to the semifinals for a fateful matchup on July 8. Will home field advantage continue to push the Brazilians forward, or will they suffer without their hero striker, Neymar?
Hometown dates turned into a hard-to-watch moment on ‘The Bachelorette’ on July 7 when Chris Harrison sat Andi Dorfman and her bachelors down to break the news that Eric Hill had died. I’m not sure there was a perfect way to address this tragedy, but I do think I found a way that would’ve honored Eric more without feeling borderline exploitative.
A weird thing happened on The Bachelorette last night, July 7 — they went to Chris Harrison‘s house. The host had Andi Dorfman and her bachelors over for an “impromptu” (I’m still on the fence about how on-the-spot this really was) meeting to tell them that former contestant Eric Hill had passed away in a tragic hang-gliding accident. The camera was then set down — but just perfectly enough so that the moment could still be captured — and the Bachelorette crew members broke the fourth wall to mourn alongside Chris, Andi and the bachelors. It was a sad, emotional moment. But it was also awkward and icky and felt distinctly made for television.
Josh M., Nick V., Chris and Marcus have clearly been the four favorites throughout this whole season of ‘The Bachelorette,’ so we were FINALLY guaranteed some drama with Andi being forced to send one of them home on July 7. But as it turned out, that wasn’t even the most emotional part of the episode.
Cody said it himself in his epic, semi-psychotic rant — making the final four and bringing Andi Dorfman home to meet your family is the goal of any contestant on The Bachelorette. The hometown dates are where the bachelors can really inch closer to getting engaged, but they can just as easily be a dealbreaker. Does Andi hate the vast nothingness of Chris‘ home state, Iowa? Did she finally realize that Josh M. actually peaked in high school?
Turns out we weren’t the only ones shocked to see pictures of Zac and Michelle all over each other and kissing while on vacation in Italy on July 5! From girls upset that Zac’s now taken to people who never expected these two to link up, fans rushed to Twitter after the pics hit the internet to totally freak out.
We did NOT see this coming — and neither did anyone else. Zac Efron and Michelle Williams were spotted kissing and totally acting like a couple while on a yacht in Sardinia, Italy on July 5, and when the pictures came out two days later, fans all over the place took to Twitter to voice their shock, cheer on the new couple, and ask the very appropriate question, “Whatever happened to that lesbian relationship with Cara Delevingne?”
