It’s the beginning of another season of Spanish soccer as the Spanish Supercup pits the winners of the Copa Del Rey against the winners of La Liga. That means, Barcelona takes on Sevilla in the first leg on Aug. 14 at 4pm EST. Who will strike blood first? Watch to find out!
This Supercup tie actually comes with a twist. Barcelona famously clinched the double last season (both La Liga & Copa Del Rey) with Sevilla being runners-up in the cup competition. That means despite not winning Copa Del Rey, Sevilla find themselves contesting it.
Sevilla have often been known to mix it with the best of them. However, in the UEFA Super Cup game against Real Madrid they came up short in a 3-2 loss in what was a thrilling match for the team’s supporters. Sergio Ramos broke Sevilla’s hearts and exposed their weakness in defense.
Barcelona are again the team to beat in La Liga this season, and will be hoping that they can add the Champions League to their trophy cabinet once again. They will be missing Neymar for this game, who is currently at the Olympics representing Brazil, but will still have Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in tandem ready to cause havoc in that Sevilla backline.
HollywoodLifers, can anyone stop Barcelona this season? Will they win La Liga and the Champions League? Tell us below!
