Tate Stevens (born Stephen Eatinger on March 1, 1975) is a country music singer who won the second season of the U.S. version of The X Factor, earning a $5 million recording contract. He adopted his stage name as a young singer in the early 1990s. He began singing lead with a band called Dixie Cadillacs immediately after high school. In 2005, he became the lead singer of another band called Outlaw Junkies. In 2008, he left that band to form the Tate Stevens Band, releasing an independent album the same year. In 2012, he auditioned for season two of The X Factor at a Kansas City, Missouri open call, ultimately winning the entire competition. His victory was announced live on television on Dec. 20, 2012.
