Blythe Danner (born Blythe Katherine Danner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 3, 1943) is an Emmy-Award winning actress who began on Broadway before heading to film and TV. After attending Bard College, Blythe landed her first role in the 1967 musical, Mata Hari followed by the 1968 production of Summer Tree. She went on to continue on Broadway for years, and actually received a Tony Award for her role in 1969’s Butterflies Are Free. Her first movie role was in To Kill A Clown in 1972. As she got older, her career just blossomed more. In 2000, she played a mother in Meet the Parents, and the two sequels that followed; she also became known on Will and Grace as Will’s mother. From 2004 to 2006, she starred in Huff and was nominated for three Emmys in 2005 — Will & Grace, Huff and Back When We Were Grownups. She won two years in a row for Huff.

Blythe Danner married producer Bruce Paltrow, but he passed away after complications from pneumonia during cancer in 2002. Together,they have two children — actress Gwyneth Paltrow and director, Jake Paltrow.
