Bio:
Darren Aronofsky (Born Feb. 12, 1969 in Brooklyn, NY) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. He attended Harvard University where he studied filmmaking then went on to get his masters at the prestigious AFI Conservatory. He made his first feature film, the psychological thriller Pi, in 1997 and the following year he was named Best Director when it screened at the Sundance Film Festival. He followed it up with the 2000’s highly praised yet incredibly disturbing drug movie Requiem for a Dream. He directed Mickey Rourke to an Oscar nomination in 2008’s heartbreaking The Wrestler and directed Natalie Portman to her first Oscar in 2010 for Black Swan. He tried his hand at big budget filmmaking with 2014’s biblical epic Noah about Noah’s Ark, which he also wrote and produced. Ultimately the movie underperformed, taking in barely over $100 million. His upcoming project stars rumored girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence. It filmed in the summer of 2016 and the plot and title have yet to be released.

Personal Life:
Both of Darren’s parents were public school teachers. He met and fell in love with English actress Rachel Weisz in 2001 and the couple became engaged in 2005. A year later they welcomed their first and only child, a son Henry. The pair parted ways in 2010 but remain friendly. Darren is active in environmental causes and animal rights. In Nov. 2016 it was reported that he and Jennifer Lawrence were dating after the couple were photographed kissing and cuddling in New York City.
