The odd couple kept their relationship very private throughout, quietly starting their romance amidst the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 but waiting until the start of 2021 to go public. Things had already progressed quite far in that time. In fact, during that time, Aaron had already proposed! He confirmed the engagement in Feb. 2021. During an interview a few weeks later, Shailene revealed that the proposal ‘happened a while ago,’ although she did not give an exact timeline.

After final sharing their exciting news with the world, Shailene and Aaron were much more public with their love for one another. But by late 2021 the couple started appearing on each other’s social media less frequently. Come Feb. 2022, it was reported the two were done.

It’s not odd they don’t post about each other on their birthdays in that sense,” the insider told the outlet, adding they’re “very private about things.”
