Bio:
Victor Espinoza (born May 23, 1972 in Tulancingo, Mexico) is a jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing. He was born on a dairy farm in Mexico and is the eleventh of twelve children. Victor began riding horses on the farm as a kid, and started racing thoroughbreds at Mexico City’s renowned horse-racing facility. Rising to fame in 2000 after winning the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, he went on to win other huge titles such as the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. He averaged 193 wins a year between 2000 and 2006, and in May 2013 gained his 3,000 career win. Victor was selected as the jockey for California Chrome in Dec. 2013. He’s also won 2 ESPYs for Best Jockey in 2002 and 2014. On June 6, 2015, Victor, who was riding American Pharoah, won the Bellmont Stakes and became the 12th Triple Crown winner — the first since 1978.

Victor is not married and does not have any children. He donates 10 percent of his earnings to the City of Hope, which supports pediatric cancer research.
