Bio:
Tony Lara (reportedly born in 1965) was a former professional fisherman and reality television star. Tony was a crab-fisherman veteran. Tony was the captain of the Corneilia Marie fishing boat, as featured on the Discovery Channel’s reality television show, Deadliest Catch. He worked on the boat for 10 years in the 1990s. He even ran the boat during the salmon tendering season. Tony took over for the former captain, Phil Harris, after his death in 2010. Phil’s sons, Josh Harris and Jake Harris, asked Tony to return to the boat as Captain. As a close friend of Phil, he was a logical replacement. He also helped build much of the boat when it was outfitted for crabbing. Tony also reportedly had the engine room memorized. Together with the Harris boys, Tony helped get the boat back on the water and making money. As a captain, he reportedly aimed to provide stability for the crew, since he had to deal with the tempers and attitudes that come with the high-risk job of crab fishing. In addition to fishing, Tony reportedly ran a freighting business.
