Tim Burton (born Timothy Walter Burton in Burbank, California on August 25, 1958) is a film director, producer, artist, writer and animator. As a teenager, he liked to make short films in his backyard. After graduating from high school, he attended the California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita, California, where he studied character animation. One of his animations attracted the attention of Disney and he was offered an animator’s apprenticeship at the studio. But he later wanted to work on solo projects, and he eventually created such masterpieces as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Tim Burton is best known for his horror and fantasy movies such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland. He has also worked repeatedly with Johnny Depp.
Personal Life:
Tim Burton was married to Lena Gieseke, a German-born artist, but they split in 1991. He then dated Lisa Marie Smith between 1992 and 2001. He then developed a relationship with Helena Bonham Carter. They met while filming Planet of the Apes. They have two children together: a son, Billy Raymond, born in 2003, and a daughter, Nell, born in 2007. Johnny Depp is the godfather to both their children. In December 2014, Carter’s rep revealed Tim and Helena split earlier that year.
