Skip Bayless (born John Edward Bayless II on December 4, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is an American author, columnist and television personality. He has worked for The Miami Herald, the Los Angeles Times, and for the Chicago Tribune. He has also published pieces for Sports Illustrated. He was a member of NFL Prime Monday‘s “Knights of the Roundtable” segment, and multiple ESPN programs. Bayless is currently a commentator on the sports talk program First Take.

Personal Life:
Bayless was called Skip by his father as a child, and he later legally changed his name. He played sports throughout his childhood, and attended Vanderbilt University, where he majored in English and history before graduating cum laude in 1974. He is married to publicist Ernestine Sclafani, and is the brother of chef Rick Bayless.
