Simon HelbergĀ (born Simon Maxwell Helberg on December 9, 1980 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor and comedian. Simon grew up in Santa Monica, attending Crossroads School along with Jason Ritter, who would be his roommate when they both attended New York University. Simon attended the Tisch School of the Arts, training at the Atlantic Theater Company. Simon and Derek Waters performed as the sketch comedy duo, Derek & Simon, even starring in a web series they created with comedian Bob Odenkirk. One of Simonās earliest film roles was that of Vernon in the 2002 film, Van Wilder. He also appeared in movies Old School, A Cinderella Story and Good Night, and Good Luck. In 2007, Simon was cast in his breakout role of Howard Wolowitz in the CBS hit sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. His performance on the show earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination and a Criticsā Choice award. Since 2007, Simon has appeared in movies Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, A Serious Man, and Let Go, as well as TV series such as Drunk History and Comedy Bang! Bang!

Simon married actress Jocelyn Towne in July 2007.Ā Simon and Jocelyn co-directed Weāll Never Have Paris, a fictional account on how Simon cheated on her and what he did to win her back.Ā The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Adeline, in 2012. Their son, Wilder, was born in April 2014. Simon is a professional pianist and obtained his black belt in karate when he was 9-years-old. He is also an accomplished impressionist, known for his imitations of Nicolas Cage and Al Pacino.
