Rebecka Carnes

Bio:
Rebecka Carnes (born 1997) was one of the nine victims tragically killed in the October 2015 shooting on Umpqua Community College in Oregon. Known as a vibrant and “fiercely loved” member of her family, Rebecka had just started school when her life was ended by Chris Harper-Mercer’s bloody rampage on the UCC campus. In addition to starting school, Rebecka had even begun a brand new job prior to her murder.

Personal Life:
Rebecka had a sister. Her cousin posted a loving tribute to Rebecka after he death was confirmed by her step-father. She was a star softball player in high school and was studying at UCC to become a dental hygienist. Rebecka also enjoyed hunting and the great outdoors of the Pacific Northeast. Rebecka’s cousin, Bethany Johnson, said she had the “biggest heart and [an] amazing soul.”
