Bio:
Philando Castile was the man shot and killed by police in Minnesota on July 7, 2016. He was driving a car with his girlfriend in the passenger seat and her four-year-old daughter in the backseat when a police officer pulled him over for a broken taillight. In a video after the shooting, his girlfriend explained that Philando warned officers he had a pistol, which he was licensed to carry, with him, and as he was simply reaching for his license and registration, a policeman shot him multiple times. The video showed Philando bleeding out through his shirt as his girlfriend explained what happened, and one of the officers can be heard shouting, “I told him not to reach for it. I told him to get his hands up.” Philando died at the hospital that night.

Philando is best known for being tragically gunned down by police at a traffic stop outside St. Paul, Minnesota.
Personal Life:
Philando was a cafeteria supervisor at J.J. Hill Montessori School in St. Paul. He was reportedly engaged to the female passenger in his car at the time he was shot to death.
