Marsha Blackburn (born Marsha Wedgeworth on June 6, 1952 in Laurel, Mississippi) is an American politician. She is a member of the Republican par5ty and represents Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District in the House of Representatives. Marsha began her political career as a founding member of the Williamson County Young Republicans. She first was a candidate for Congress and a delegate at the Republican National Convention in 1992, but lost the race. In 1995, Marsha was named the executive director of the TN Film, Entertainment, and Music Commission and stayed in the position through 1997. In 1998, she was elected to the Tennessee Senate. In 2016, Marsha was rumored to be an option for Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate.
