Luke Kuechly (born Luke August Kuechly on April 20, 1991 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American NFL player. He played college football at Boston College. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 2012 NFL Draft. He won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012. He won the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2013, making him the youngest recipient in NFL history. In 2015, he signed a 5-year, $62 million contract with the Panthers. In the 2015 season, Luke made 118 tackles in the regular season. Luke helped the Panthers reach Super Bowl 50. Luke and the Panthers will play the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl on Feb. 7, 2016.
