Jessie Vargas (born in Los Angeles on May 10, 1989) is a professional boxer, who has held the WBO welterweight title since Mar. 2016. After becoming a two-time United States Junior National champion in his amateur career, Jessie made his professional debut in Sept. 2008 in a match against undefeated boxer Joel Gonzalez. He won that match with a first-round knock out. Jessie gained more attention in his fight against Trenton Titsworth, whom kicked Jessie in the neck during one round. Although both players were docked points for disorderly conduct in the ring, Jessie ultimately won the fight. Since then, Jessie has been fighting his way into victory with a 27-1 winning record. He has also held titles as the WBA and IBO super light weight champion in 2014.
