Jencarlos Canela

Bio:
Jencarlos Canela (born in Miami, Florida on April 21, 1988) is an American actor and award-winning singer-songwriting musician. Jencarlos is known worldwide for his three internationally renowned telenovelas. He began his music career when he was 12 as the lead singer of the group “Boom Boom Pop.” He was successful in the band for two years, but decided to start his solo career in late 2002. During the five years that followed, Jencarlos appeared in several international events including the “Miss World” 2004 and 2005 beauty pageants, “The Latin Fiesta Festival” in Toronto, Canada, and “The CALLE OCHO Festival” in Miami. In May 2006, Jencarlos graduated from the New World School of the Arts where he studied music and acting. Rudy Pérez produced Jencarlos’ first two albums under the independent label Bullseye Music Entertainment. His first album “Búscame” debuted at #2 in 2009, and in 2011 his second album “Un Nuevo Día” came in at #1 during the first week it was released. In terms of acting, Jencarlos made his debut in 2007 as Alfredo Torres in the hit telenovela Pecados Ajenos. On January 16, 2009, Canela signed an exclusivity contract with Telemundo. Later that same year, he starred in the telenovela “Mas Sabe El Diablo” achieving worldwide success. In January 2016, Fox announced that Canela would portray Jesus Christ in its upcoming musical special The Passion.

Personal Life:
Jencarlos Canela was born in Miami, Florida, to Cuban parents, Lisette and Heriberto Canela. He is the older brother of actor Jason Canela, and they also have two older siblings. Jencarlos dated actress and model, Gaby Espino, from 2011 to 2014. Gaby gave birth to their son, Nickolas Canela Espino, on February 12, 2012. However, on August 26, 2014, both Jencarlos and Gaby confirmed that they were ending their relationship.
