Bio:
James Best (born Jules Franklin Guy on July 26, 1926 in Powderly, Kentucky) is an American actor. After serving in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, he got his start in showbiz in the 1950s, starring in films like Seven Angry Men, The Naked and the Dead and Ride Lonesome. He guest-starred on dozens of television series, including The Twilight Zone and Annie Oakley before landing his biggest and most-well known role as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on The Dukes of Hazzard. He stayed with the hit CBS program from its debut in 1979 until the finale in 1985. Once the series ended, James taught at the University of Central Florida, then opened a production company and took occasional acting jobs. He sadly passed away on April 6, 2015 at the age of 88 due to complications from pneumonia.

Personal Life:
Little is known about James’ first marriage, from which he has a son, Gary. He married his second wife, Jobee Ayers, in 1959, and had daughters Janeen and Jojami, but the relationship ended in divorce in 1977. He survives his third wife, Dorothy Collier, who he married in 1986.
