J.K. Simmons (born Jonathan Kimble Simmons in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on January 9, 1955) is an American actor. J.K. began his acting career on Broadway, playing in the 1992 revival, Guys and Dolls. He also played in the Carousel in 1994, before he switch to television and film. J.K. gained attention for his roles as a police psychiatrist in the Law & Order franchise, as well as playing a villainous inmate in the prison drama, OZ. Other starring roles in film and television include, I Love You Man and Whiplash. In 2015, the actor won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor his role in the Whiplash. J.K. will also play James Gordon in the upcoming two-part film Justice League, which will be released in 2017 and 2019.

J.K. Simmons is best known for his television roles as Dr. Emil Skoda in the Law & Order franchise series, the neo-Nazi Vernon Schillinger in the HBO series, Oz, and as Asistant Police Chief, Will Pope on TNT’s The Closer.
Personal Life:
J.K. Simmons married his wife Michelle Schumacher in 1996. The two have two children together.
