Emma Coburn (born October 19, 1990 in Crested Butte, Colorado) is an American Olympic track and field star. Emma is a middle distance runner who specializes in the 3000 meter steeplechase. She won the bronze medal for the event at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Emma made history during her time at the University of Colorado; in 2012 she became the fourth fastest American in history and the fastest American on US soil with her steeplechase time of 9:25.28. Emma qualified for the 2012 Olympic team in the 3000m steeplechase, becoming the youngest runner on the American team. During the 2016 Rio games, Emma broke the American record for 3000m steeplechase for a third time, earning bronze at 9:07.63.
