Denny Hamlin (born James Dennis Alan Hamlin on November 18, 1980) is an American NASCAR race car driver. Denny, who began his racing career in 1988 at age 7, currently drives the No. 11 FedEx Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Sprint Cup Series and the No. 18 Toyota in the Nationwide Series.
Tragedy struck Denny on March 24, 2013. Denny was in a tight race at the Auto Club 400, speeding down the final straightaway battling for first place with racer, Joey Logano, when Joey’s car brushed up against his, causing both cars to spin out. He was airlifted to the hospital as a temporary precaution.
