Danielle Brooks (born in Augusta, Georgia, on September, 17, 1989) is a Tony-nominated American actress, who began acting at the age of six. Growing up in Greenville, South Carolina, she started acting in a nativity play put on by her church and later attended a performing arts high school. Danielle is a 2011 graduate of Juilliard, where she studied drama.
Best Known For:
Danielle Brooks is best known for her role as Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson on the hit Nextflix series, Orange Is The New Black, as well as the 2015 Broadway production, The Color Purple, where she plays Sofia.
Personal Life:
Danielle Brooks is the daughter of a deacon (her father), and a minister (her mother).
