Bio:
Christen Press (born December 29, 1988 in Los Angeles, California) is an American professional soccer player. Christen began playing soccer at age five. She attended Chadwick School in the city of Palos Verdes, where she was named the captain of the soccer team for two years. She led her high school squad to two Southern Section Division IV titles. In 2006, Parade Magazine named her a High School All-American. She enrolled at Stanford University and remains the school’s all-time leading scorer for their women’s soccer teams. She also broke the school’s records for career points, assists and shots. She helped lead Stanford to their first ever NCAA Division I Tournament Final in 2009. In 2011, Christen was drafted to the Women’s Professional Soccer league team magicJack. Sadly, the WPS closed at the end of the season. Kristen then signed with the Kopparbergs/Gotebord FC in Sweden in 2012. Until 2014, she played in Sweden with the UEFA Women’s Champions League. With Goteborg, she won the championship in 2012 and finished 2013 as the league’s top scorer. In 2014, she signed with the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League. During the first season with the team, Christen was given the team’s Golden Boot. She made her World Cup Debut in 2015, scoring her first World Cup goal in the first round match against Sweden. She and the rest of Team USA went on to win the 2015 Women’s World Cup.
