Bobby Cannavale (born Robert Cannavale on May 3, 1970 in Union City, New Jersey) is an American actor. Bobby’s career began when he was eight, securing the role of Winthrop in his school’s production of The Music Man. His parents divorced when he was 13 and he moved with his mother to Puerto Rico. After two years, they relocated to Margate, Florida. He returned to New Jersey and finished his high school degree. While living close to New York City, Bobby began acting in the theater and landed early roles in movies like The Bone Collector. In 1999, he was cast as Bobby Caffey in the television series, Third Watch. From there, he landed roles in Ally McBeal and Will & Grace, the latter of which won him an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in 2005. In 2012, he guest starred on the fourth and fifth seasons of Nurse Jackie as well as Boardwalk Empire. His Boardwalk role won him critical acclaim and the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Bobby’s mother is from Cuba, having moved to the U.S. in 1960. He was married to actress Jenny Lumet from 1994 to 2003. They couple had one son together, actor Jake Cannavale. Since 2012, Bobby has been involved with Rose Byrne, confirming their relationship with his 2013 Emmy award acceptance speech. He’s a big fan of football, basketball as well as metal band Slayer.
