Bio:
Arjun Gupta (born Arjun Gupta in Tampa, Florida) is an American actor, activist, podcast host, and producer. After being born and raised in Florida, he moved to New York to attend New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Before going to NYU, he had the chance to live in India with his family for a year, which inspired him to pursue theater. His time in India also led Arjun to co-founding a multi-ethnic theater in California called Ammunition Theater Company. Along with his acting and running the theater, he also co-hosts American Desis, a podcast that discusses and investigates what it means to be South Asian in the United States. As for his acting career, Arjun made his major film debut in 2009’s Motherhood alongside Uma Thurman and Minnie Driver. That same year, he also made his television debut with the role of Sam on Nurse Jackie, which he held for four seasons. Arjun has appeared as Kan on How To Get Away With Murder and will star as Penny in The Magicians, the television adaptation of Lev Grossman’s book that premiered on Dec. 16, 2015.
