Bio:
Aaron Hernandez (born Aaron Michael Hernandez on November 6, 1989) is an American football tight end, who is currently a free agent. He most recently played for the New England Patriots. He played college football for the University of Florida, was a member of a BCS National Championship team, earned All-American honors, and was recognized as one of the outstanding college tight ends in the nation. He was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and was selected for the Pro Bowl, following his second NFL season.
On August 27, 2012, the Patriots signed Aaron to a five-year extension, running through 2018, that includes a $12.5 million signing bonus. However, the Patriots released Aaron on June 26, 2013, shortly after officers from the North Attleboro police department and the Massachusetts State Police arrested him at his home. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd in 2015, and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Aaron was also charged with double-homicide in the 2012 deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, but he was acquitted after being found not guilty in April 2016. Five days after his acquittal for this crime, he committed suicide in prison while serving his previous life sentence.
