Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Britney Spears. On a day full of drama and delight, Britney, 40, married Sam Asghari at her Thousand Oaks home in Los Angeles on Thursday (June 9). Though Britney wore an off-the-shoulder custom Versace dress for the ceremony, she slipped into something more casual – and more suited for dancing – at the reception. Apparently, the event was “shoes optional” because Britney ditched her pumps to dance alongside Drew Barrymore and Selena Gomez at the party.
Britney changed into three outfits throughout the reception, according to Vogue’s coverage of the event. Her black mini dress was “followed by a two-toned outfit, and finally, a red mini dress, all by Versace.” Selena, 29, sported a blue jumpsuit for the reception, while Drew, 47, wore a deep mahogany outfit that glowed under the reception’s lights.
Sam, 28, and Britney didn’t have a “first dance,” according to Vogue, but that didn’t stop Britney from getting her groove on. She danced to her hit, “Toxic,” along with Selena and Madonna. Britney and Madonna, 63, took a picture of themselves kissing roughly 19 years after their infamous smooch at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Later in the night, Paris Hilton joined Britney to sing a rendition of “Stars Are Blind.” Other A-listers attending the event included Carter Reum, Kathy Hilton, Maria Menounos, Ansel Elgort, will.i.am, and Donatella Versace.
This wedding comes six years after Britney first met Sam. The “Baby One More Time” singer met Sam, an actor and fitness expert, on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in Oct. 2016. A few months later, Britney found Sam’s number in the bag and decided to shoot her shot. The two made their relationship official on New Year’s Day 2017. Four years later, after Britney regained her freedom following the end of her conservatorship, Sam popped the question with a 4-carat diamond ring.
While there was plenty of excitement and dancing during Britney’s special day, there was also a bit of unexpected alarm. Britney’s ex-husband, Jason Alexander, apparently tried to attend the party without an invite. Jason, 40, and Britney married in a 2005 Las Vegas ceremony, but they annulled their marriage 55 hours later. Jason reportedly went on Instagram Live while trying to get into the ceremony, claiming that Brit “invited me here” but also that he was “here to crash the wedding.”
“We responded to the property belonging to Britney Spears for a trespassing Investigation,” Ventura County Sheriff Officer Wright told HollywoodLife. “We arrested an individual by the name of Jason Alexander, 40 years old, for a warrant that is out of state. He is at our Thousand Oaks station right now and being booked.”
