Aeko Catori Brown is growing up fast. Chris Brown‘s son, who he shares with Ammika Harris, just celebrated his first birthday on November 20, and he’s already got a favorite anime character. In a new video, shared by Ammika, 27, to her Instagram story on Jan. 5, the adorable tot can be seen watching the classic Japanese animated movie My Neighbor Totoro.
Clearly mesmerized by the cartoon, Aeko points to the screen before saying “Mei.” Ammika, who is filming Aeko, gives him encouragement and says, “Mei, good job.”
My Neighbor Totoro is a classic Japanese animated children’s cartoon that was released way back in 1988, a year before Chris, 31, was even born. But it’s still a fan favorite today. And no doubt Chris will approve of his son’s anime appreciation, because he’s a huge fan of the art form too. He even did an anime series for his Black Pyramid clothing line back in 2016.

Ammika and Aeko are currently living in Germany, while Chris remains in Los Angeles, but the bond between the toddler and his superstar dad is still strong. Back in October, Chris flew to Europe to spend time with his son and Ammika.
Then they jetted to Mexico together to enjoy an extended family vacation, with lots of quality time in the sand and sun. Chris even flew his mom Joyce Hawkins and daughter Royalty Brown, 6, to Mexico to join them. The family vacation marked the first time Chris had seen his son since early 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ammika and Aeko were visiting her family in Germany when lockdown occurred. Chris remained in the United States but stayed in contact with Ammika and their son on a daily basis, via phone and video.
When their vacation ended Ammika and Aeko went back to Germany and Chris returned to Los Angeles. Although it’s unclear if the on-off couple are together, or just co-parenting, they are clearly very amicable. Just days after they celebrated Aeko’s first birthday, during their extended holiday, a source told HollywoodLife that “Chris and Ammika haven’t put an official label on where things stand with them right now because they’re still trying to figure out what their next move is.”
