For many families, visiting Santa at the mall is a fun holiday activity. But for one mother and daughter who ventured to the Maine Mall in South Portland, it became a nightmare when the hired Santa was so rude, he didn’t give the poor family the time of day.

Jessica Mailhiot took her 6-year-old daughter Chantel to see St. Nick, so her daughter could tell him what she wanted for Christmas — but was instead completely snubbed.

When Jessica told Santa she wasn’t interested in spending the $20 for the take-home photo — she was already worried about bills and paying for Christmas gifts — he refused to let Chantel even sit on his lap.

“He just put his hand on his lap so I couldn’t go on,” Chantel told local news station WGME.

After dozens of other similar complaints, Maine Mall let the cranky Santa go.

“Visiting Santa at The Maine Mall is free. Photo purchases are NOT required and we have been reacting to customer complaints by taking some pretty serious steps already, the results of which you will see within the upcoming days,” the mall wrote on her Facebook page. “We realize time with Santa Claus is a holiday tradition many of our shoppers look forward to year after year – and so do we.”

Justin Bieber was caught flirting up a storm with Victoria’s Secret models after he performed in the VS fashion show on Nov. 7, and then it was announced his relationship with Selena Gomez was over. In a new holiday commercial for Macy’s, Justin asks Santa to take him off the naughty list — is this a case of art imitating life?

Well, not exactly. The commercial was made pre-split, but it is a funny bit of timing. In the spot, Justin begs the original Miracle on 34th Street Santa, “Kris, can you please take me off the naughty list? I’ll do better. I promise.”

He never gets his answer, as Santa moves on to Martha Stewart, but it’s safe to say that Justin will be back on Santa’s good list by the time Christmas rolls around!

Justin Bieber is all about Christmas, but he says his mother kept him from one classic tradition: Santa!

Justin, 17, tells AOL Music that he was always in on the truth about St. Nick, even from a young age.

“My mom always told me there wasn’t a Santa,” he said. “This was her logic: She thought if I grew up knowing about Santa then finding out he wasn’t real, that it would be like she was lying to me. And then when she told me about God, I maybe wouldn’t believe her. So she just wanted to be straight-up and honest with me all the time. But I didn’t tell my friends or ruin it for anyone — I was a good kid!”

These days, not every tot will get their entire wish list — even if they’re on the nice list — and mall Santas have had to adapt, according to The New York Times. Santas are being taught to size up a family’s financial circumstance so that they can gently keep the gift requests at a minimum! More and more Santas, according to the article, are even being asked a heartbreaking question: “Can you bring my parent a job?”

“In the end, Santas have to be sure to never promise anything,” said Mr. Honerkamp, an alumnus of the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School. “It’s hard to watch sometimes because the children are like little barometers, mirrors on what the country has been through.”

If a kid requests something outside the family budget, he blames slow toy production at the North Pole or a wayward elf.

Another Santa, Rick Parris, has another strategy: “When kids start asking for the world now, I just say, ‘Hey, look, Johnny, you ain’t getting all that.’ I just make sure to let them know that Santa seldom brings everything on a list.”

Either way, it looks like Justin had a blast filming a music video from his upcoming Christmas album Under the Mistletoe, even though the shoot lasted past 4 a.m. (Seriously, when does Justin sleep?)

“4am and we’re still out here putting in work!” director Alfredo Flores tweeted. “This video is going to be magical! @justinbieber is killin it! #mistletoe”

As we told you yesterday, Selena Gomez flew to Franklin, Tenn., to be with Justin on the set of the video — and we’d love to see her in it!

What a lucky little youngster Anja Mazur is! The 2-year-old daughter of Victoria’s Secret supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio asked Santa Claus for a playhouse, and sure enough, on Christmas Day, that’s exactly what she got!

Meeting Santa Claus for the first time can be a very scary experience, but it looks like Tiffani Thiessen‘s daughter, Harper Renn, 6 months, did OK with the help of Mom and Dad! The White Collar actress, 36, and her husband, Brady Smith, posed with Santa and their adorable girl on Saturday (Dec. 18)!
