Soap legend Susan Lucci may never have taken up residence on Wisteria Lane — despite the many, many rumors — but Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry still has big plans for her! EW.com reports that Susan has been given a starring role on his new ABC pilot Devious Maids, which as the title suggests, focuses on the trials and tribulations of four devious maids. Ugly Betty vet Ana Ortiz has already been cast as one of the maids, while Susan will play one of the maids’ employers.

Nicollette Sheridan claims Marc Cherry, the executive producer from her former show Desperate Housewives, was abusive to her on set and is firing back at insiders who claim she’s lying. The actress’ legal team issued the following statement to HollywoodLife.com in Nicole’s defense:
A source who’s very familiar with the inner workings of ‘Desperate Housewives’ doubts Nicollette Sheridan’s claim that show creator Marc Cherry slapped her over a disagreement: ‘Marc can err on the side of brusque … but I’ve never seen him be violent.’
A Desperate Housewives insider tells HollywoodLife.com that Nicollette Sheridan‘s lawsuit accusation that show creator Marc Cherry physically assaulted her when she disagreed with him is far from the truth: “I’ve never seen him be violent … there has never been an incident,” we’re told. Read more
