Omar Sharif (bornMichel Demetri Chalhoub in Alexandria, Egypt on April 10, 1932). Omar is best known for acting in some of the most famous films ever made: Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago and Funny Girl. He won three Golden Globes and was nominated for an Academy Award. He is of Lebanese descent and he went to school for mathematics at the University of Cairo before going to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. After a long and successful career in Hollywood, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in May of 2015 and died of a heart attack at the age of 83 on July 10, 2015 in Egypt.

Oman is best known for starring in films like Lawrence of Arabia, Funny Girl, Doctor Zhivago. His last film was the 2013 French Morrocan drama, Rock the Cashbah and it was screened at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
Personal Life:
Omar married Faten Hamama in 1954 when they met on the set of Struggle in the Valley. Faten actually had her first kiss with Omar in that film. Omar even converted to Islam in order to marry her but they divorced in 1974. Together they had one child, Tarek El-Sharif.
