Bio:
Ben Bishop (born Benjamin Bishop III on November 21, 1986 in Denver, Colorado) is an American professional hockey player. Though born in Denver, Ben grew up in Des Peres, Missouri. As a youth, he played hockey in suburban St. Louis. He started playing forward until he converted to goaltender. Ben played for the North American Hockey League in the 2004-05 season. He led the Texas Tornado to their second consecutive National Championship and Gold Cup. As a freshman at the University of Maine, Ben finished the regular season with a record of 21 wins and 8 losses. He and the team played appeared at the Frozen Four twice, failing to win the NCAA Hockey championship. In 2008, Ben signed with the NHL’s St. Louis Blues. He made his NHL debut in October 2008. He was traded to the Ottawa Senators in 2012. Unfortunately, the 2012 NHL lockout shortened his stay in Ottawa . He was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightening the next year. However, Ben found success with the Lightening, being nominated for NHL’s top goaltender in 2013. The Lightning continued to improve and Ben made his Stanley Cup debut in April 2015.
