After a disappointing finish to the SheBelieves Cup, the United States Women’s National Team is on a redemption tour. They scored big when they first played Russia on April 6, so can they go back-to-back when they meet the Russians at the BBVA Compass Stadium in beautiful Houston, Texas? Fans better watch to see every heart-pounding moment!
The stars at night are big and bright in the heart of Texas. The soccer is also top notch, as the Americans haven’t conceded a single goal in the last 10 games played in the Lone Star state, according to US Soccer. The Americans look to keep this streak alive, after going 4-0 against the Russians in the first friendly match.
Crystal Dunn, 24, opened up he scoring in the 10th minute off of a pass from Carli Lloyd and from there, it was pretty much over. Crystal would score her second goal of the game at the 41st minute, after Allie Long, 29, scored the first of her two goals of the game. It seems that the USWNT has gotten back to its winning ways.
While the US Women raised the W at the end of the match, they still have a few kinks to work out. The US got hit with numerous offside calls during this match, according to Fox Sports, with Crystal Dunn being the most grievous offender. Plus, there were some passes that didn’t go through smoothly and a few off-target shots. They fired off 33 shots but only seven connected on frame. They need to improve their accuracy and work better as a cohesive unit before they face a stronger squad.
