Team USA isn’t only dominating in men’s basketball. The women are also whipping butt on the court with an undefeated streak of their own! Next up, is their game against China on Aug. 14. Tune into the live stream here to catch all of the action!
The women’s basketball team is on a 4-0 winning streak! During their first game, the team totally annihilated the competition against Senegal on Aug. 7, scoring more than a 60-point in a 121-56 game. That is crazy! 1st-time Olympian, Breanna Stewart, 21, who first grabbed attention as the 4-year MVP for the University of Connecticut Huskies and then again as the 1st overall draft pick in the 2016 WNBA draft, led the team to victory on the second day of the prelims, beating Spain 103-63.
And another UConn alum, Maya Moore, 27, along with Brittney Griner, 25, and Elena Delle Donne, 26, also showed their skills, helping the team score gain a bigger lead in their third game against Serbia on Aug. 10, in a 110-84 game. And the girls did it yet again, on Aug. 12, nabbing the victory against Canada! GO Team!
Okay, these girls are definitely on fire, but they aren’t the only ones. Speaking of undefeated, Team USA Men’s Basketball knows a little something about that as well. Kevin Durant, 27, and Carmelo Anthony, 32, led their team to a four-game victory, and they aren’t expected to lose a single game! The men’s team will also be stepping on the court on Aug. 14, to play against France.
The women’s and men’s teams are the favorite to take the gold medals, and after seeing just a couple of their games, we can totally see why! They are simply unbeatable! This is just the preliminaries, so anything could happen. After all, we’ve already seen quite a bit of upsets this Olympics season, including when both Serena, 36, and Venus Williams, 34, were shut out of the tennis doubles and singles competition. Ouch! But Team USA’s women’s basketball is super strong, and these girls are here to defend their title. We’re sure they’ll make out just fine.
So get pumped! You can watch Team USA take on China on Aug. 14 at 11:15a.m. EST. We’ll be watching, will you?
